| Creekside Escape is a fully-furnished, modern and immaculate guesthouse perched on a wooded hillside above a crystal-clear trout stream. Swim, tube, wade and canoe the very scenic stream. Sunbathe, watch birds, or grill out on the huge wrap-around deck. Read, relax, play cards (even sleep overnight) in the new screen house by the creek. Pack a picnic lunch, grab your fly-fishing gear, or just throw a beach towel over your shoulder and wade the shallow water down to the sandy beaches and big swimming hole downstream.
Very quiet, very private - yet an easy drive to state & county lakes, parks, walking/hiking/horseback riding trails, even scuba diving at Wazee Lake - the Midwest's deepest lake. Driveway connects to 235 miles of ATV/motorcycle trails and 100 miles of snowmobile trails. Plus there's always lots of safe, off-road parking for your rigs and trailers right next to Creekside. NO per-vehicle charges, or any other "hidden" charges here.
This spacious, modern 980 sq ft family home sleeps five, featuring two bedrooms and two full baths, complete laundry, well-appointed kitchen, central heat and A/C, even free DSL, WIFI and DISH Network TV.
June through October, two family members or friends can sleep in the house, our neat, furnished screen house by the creek or in their own tent or camper at no additional charge under the 7 person rate. Just be aware, if sleeping outside, there are Black Bears in Jackson County. You'll need to take all proper and necessary precautions, especially with the storage of waste, food, beverages and coolers.
The deck and grounds are geared for people who enjoy being outdoors. Plenty of chairs, picnic tables, gas and charcoal grills, fire pit with free firewood, a grass volleyball court, balls and rackets and horseshoes. Guest path to creek is down a gradual incline with handrails and steps: a two minute walk, at most. Plus, there are mowed paths in the woods - not to mention flower gardens all around, great bird-watching opportunities, the usual little woodland critters and clear night skies that will take your breath away.
Your dog(s)are welcome to stay here as well. We're dog people ourselves and hate it when we have to leave them behind when we travel. So, you can bring up to 3 K9s, no weight limit, with the usual restrictions: must be up to date on shots and treated with a good tick repellent like Frontline, housebroken & stay off the furniture, be under your control at all times when outside, and not cause damage to the house, screen room or grounds. $100 pet damage deposit (personal check) will be voided and returned to you if no unusual cleaning needed or damage found after you leave. Daily pet fees: $10(1) $15(2), & $20(3). We do reserve the right to ask any guests to leave early, without a refund, if their dog(s) turn out to be unusually combative or aggressive, or are damaging property.
Children are welcome if they'll be under adult supervision at all times, especially when they're outside. The woods and water can be dangerous to little ones, so we WILL cut your visit short if we think children are being placed in danger.
Smoking is only allowed on the open entry porch, deck and in the screen house.
We're open year-round, but it's best if you call ahead about winter availability.
$250 reservation deposit required on 2-5 night stays and must be received within 7 days of confirmed booking. $200 deposit for 6 night (or longer) stays. Cashier's checks or money orders for your 1st visit; personal checks for everything when you return.
Full refunds given if written cancellation received 3 weeks prior to check-in date, unless staying over a weekend in June - September, or over any part of any national holiday, in which case 4 weeks written cancellation is required. Phone calls will NOT suffice.
