| The Kea'au House is 3 BR, 2 bath, in the country, and still close to everything. This house is for rent for a reasonable amount. The house is in the district of Puna, a few miles away from Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is in a country setting, among people who live there year round.
The Kea'au House is in a neighborhood called Hawaiian Paradise Park, 20 minutes from Hilo and 15 minutes from Pahoa, a 7 minute walk to the ocean, and close to the volcano.
The house is a comfortable, five year old, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, in a country setting. It has a deck around the place. It has Satellite TV and a CD player. There is a washer and a 2 clothes lines for drying. It's in the country, a walking distance away from the ocean. It is also at the trail head for a 1 hour hike to a white sand beach, that you can only visit through this path. I saw a giant turtle with a baby turtle on Nov 12.
This place is not for people who want to be where the bars are. It is the country, where the people live. There is not a hotel or nightclub anywhere around. Restaurants are nearby in Pahoa town: two Italian restaurants, a Mexican and a Thai restaurant, a cafe, and a couple of bars. A short distance to Kea'au which has a supermarket, a farmers' market (open 7 days), a video store, a McDonalds, a diner, a Thai restaurant, a gas station, a hardware store, and a bar and grill.
You are minutes away from: the ocean, swimming beaches, the Hilo zoo, Hilo botanical gardens, the Warm Pool, The Volcano, the rain forest, surfing beaches, fishing, water falls, and snorkeling. You can travel 30 minutes to snorkel in the Champagne Ponds, named for the warm bubbles out of the floor of these clear canals, home to tropical fish and giant sea turtles. You can go down the coast five minutes more to the Kapoho Tide Pools, formed by lava outpourings, some pools as large as football fields, loaded with ocean life. You can go a few more miles to the Warm Pool, warmer than body temperature, in a park setting with showers, picnic tables, and a life guard. You can go down the Puna Trail, to the end at Kanapala, where you can see lava from an active volcano still flowing into the ocean, pouring thousands of tons of molten rock into the ocean daily. You can watch this in the evening, which is a magnificent sight. You can go an hour and a half to South Point, the southern most place in the United States. At the end of a spectacular 12 mile road, you can see great cliffs falling into a clear, deep, calm ocean, with iron ladders leading into the depths.
The best of Hawaii without the tourists.
